Job summary

Public Health Solutions is seeking a Strategic Policy Program Analyst in NYC to research and analyze city, state, and federal health policy changes. You will monitor regulations, prepare briefing documents, and support policy staff across the department on diverse topics.

You will lead projects within the Strategic Policy Initiatives unit, coordinating with divisions, and delivering on emerging issues while advancing health equity and social justice principles.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in health policy or social services policy.
  • Undergraduate degree or certificate in public health, government, political science, economics, or related field of study.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, presentation, and research skills.
  • Proactive, flexible, analytical, creative, and able to independently manage several tasks and projects and meet tight timelines.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across programs and with outside agencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are a must.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, social justice, and equity
  • Exceptional prioritization and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Embraces ambiguity and has a willingness to “roll up their sleeves.”
  • High degree of self‑awareness, humility, and diplomacy.
  • A self-starter, comfortable working independently as well as in teams.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and project management.

  • Ability to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment with hard deadlines.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Job Description

DOHMH has an opening for a Strategic Policy Prog. Analyst. The Strategic Policy Prog. Analyst reports to the Executive Director for Strategic Policy Initiatives, within the Office of External Affairs, and will conduct research and analysis regarding city, state, and federal policy changes related to public health and the social determinants of health. The Strategic Policy Prog. Analyst will monitor for changes in regulations, law, and policy, prepare briefing documents, and provide support to policy staff across the Department on a range of topics. The Strategic Policy Prog. Analyst will play a critical role in the Strategic Policy Initiatives unit’s work supporting the coordinating among the various divisions’ policy staff and will lead projects of their own on emerging issues.


Duties

Additional Information


  • This is a temporary grant-funded position ending in November 2027.

  • This individual must reside in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) by their confirmed start date.

  • Preference may be given to individuals residing in New York City (5 boroughs) or surrounding New York State counties.

  • This individual will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies.
