Job summary

Thornburg Foundation seeks a Strategic Advocacy and Communications Officer responsible for advancing its public policy goals. The role emphasizes policy advocacy, developing and executing public-facing campaigns, along with digital communication tasks. Candidates should have over five years of experience in policy advocacy and a strong understanding of New Mexico’s legislative environment.

The officer will manage social media, draft newsletters, and coordinate with external communications. A competitive salary of $90–$110k and a robust benefits package are offered. The job is hybrid with three days in the office each week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in policy advocacy or issue-based campaigning.
• Ability to develop and execute advocacy campaigns.
• Familiarity with New Mexico’s legislative process.
• Experience translating policy content into public communications.
• Strong writing skills in various formats

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute advocacy strategies for various policy initiatives.
• Manage public-facing policy campaigns, including stakeholder mobilization.
• Coordinate advocacy messaging across coalition partners.
• Track legislative developments and create public responses.
• Support policy officers with advocacy materials.
