Job summary

Gila County's Community Development Department seeks a Planner/Zoning Coordinator in Globe, AZ. Under the Community Development Director, you will support planning and zoning projects, assist with the Comprehensive Plan updates, and prepare staff reports for the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with specialized or technical training courses in Planning or a related field.
• Three (3) years’ experience in Planning with Local Government; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of complex planning and zoning projects, including development plans, zoning changes, variance requests, uses, and subdivisions.
• Prepare written staff reports and present recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Board of Adjustments.
• Attend pre-application meetings, schedule hearings, and maintain records of public input and notices.
• Ensure compliance with State Statutes, County ordinances, and planning procedures in correspondence and timelines.
• Develop and update the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and establish office procedures; draft ordinances and align with the Comprehensive Plan.
