Job summary

Coconino County is seeking a County Planner to oversee and participate in current and long-range planning activities and zoning ordinance administration. Depending on qualifications, the role may involve supervising staff and coordinating with county-wide departments.

The ideal candidate will have relevant planning education and substantial experience in public sector land use planning, with strong communication skills to interact with developers, property owners and decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, geography or a related field
• Six years of planning experience
• Experience with current and long-range planning activities
• Ability to work with diverse boards and communities

Responsibilities

• Manages current planning processes including public hearing processes
• Manages current planning staff and coordinates with County-wide staff
• Administers zoning and subdivision ordinances
• Consults with developers and property owners
• Conducts site plan review and processes requests for subdivisions, rezoning, use permits, and variances
• Represents County on committees and at public meetings
• Presents cases and makes recommendations to boards and commissions
• Prepares and maintains records and reports
• Oversees land use plans and ordinances development and revision
