Job summary

The St. Johns River Water Management District seeks an advanced professional to develop and manage basin-specific initiatives, including planning, prioritization of projects, process design, and delivering results through communication and facilitation.

Responsibilities include building basin plans, coordinating resources, advocacy with stakeholders, budgeting, and managing district documents within the Bureau of Basin Management and Project Development in northeast and east-central Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a natural or environmental science, water resources, engineering or related field; five years of professional experience.
• Master’s degree can substitute for one year of required experience; Doctorate can substitute for two years.

Responsibilities

• Develops basin priorities and objectives for the assigned basin and influences changes across the basin.
• Coordinates resources to deliver milestones and monitors work plans, schedules, and milestones.
• Presents to media, leadership, Governing Board, and stakeholders; coordinates internal and external communications.
• Assists with development, implementation and management of scopes, budgets, and district documents.

Bureau of Basin Management and Project Development

The St. Johns River Water Management District is an environmental agency whose work is focused on it's fou r core missi ons ; wate r su ppl y, flo od p rote ction , w ater q ua lity a nd n atur al sys tems in 18 counties in northeast and east-central Florida. The B ureau of B asin Manage m ent and P roject Dev elopm ent is responsible for developing and managing project solutions which support the District’s core missions , increasing organizational efficiency and effectiveness , and implementation of specific workplan s to address challenges in each of the Strategic Planning Basi ns. Job Summary:

Advanced professional work developing and managing basin specific initiatives, including planning and prio ritization of projects, process design, and delivery of results through communication, facilitation, and influence.

Job duties include:

• Develops basin priorities and clearly defined objectives for assigned strategic planning basin; advocates and influences appropriate change and needs across the assigned basin, including project selection and prioritization. This includes developing a basin plan for the assigned basin by building upon SJRWMD's prior surface water improvement management plans.
• Facilitates and coordinates the resources needed to effectively deliver the milestones/objectives for the assigned strategic planning basin. This includes coordinating with division work groups to develop work plans, schedules, and monitoring. Advocates and influences change and needs across the planning basin, including water quality, flood protection, and natural system project selection and prioritization.
• Presents and advocates to the media, leadership, the Governing Board, regional stakeholders and other parties as required on assigned strategic planning basin. This includes internal and external coordination and communication.
• Assists with the development, implementation and management of scopes, budgets, and District documents associated with the assigned basin.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a natural or environmental science, water resources, engineering or related field and five years of professional experience in the environmental or water resources field, one of which includes leading a project team, coordination activities of a work group, or serving as a team lead.

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in natural or environmental science, water resources, engineering or related field can substitute for one year of the required experience as described above.

A doctorate from an accredited college or university with a major in natural or environmental science, water resources, engineering or related field can substitute for two years of the required experience as described above.

Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

General Office Environment: Some travel within the state may be required.

License:

Valid State of Florida Driver's License.

Starting Salary Range:

Starting Salary Range: $ 91,145.60 - $123,032.00

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
