Job summary

Contec Americas Inc. is seeking a Planner/Buyer to join our Melbourne, Florida supply chain team.

This role combines purchasing and material planning to ensure materials are available for production, collaborating with suppliers, Production, Engineering, and Quality to manage orders, shortages, inventory and deliveries. You will use ERP/MRP data to prioritize needs, address supply risks and support reliable schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Relevant experience in purchasing, production planning, materials, supply chain, or related areas is required.
• Ability to interpret bills of material, lead times, supplier commitments, and production requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP functionality is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review demand, forecasts, inventory, and MRP recommendations to determine material requirements.
• Develop and maintain material plans for assigned products.
• Issue and manage purchase orders with approved suppliers.
• Confirm supplier commitments for price, quantity, and delivery.
• Monitor material availability and resolve shortages.
• Follow up on past-due purchase orders and supplier issues.
• Coordinate inbound shipments to ensure timely material arrival.
• Evaluate shipping options, timing, and freight costs.
• Maintain purchasing and planning data in ERP/MRP system.
• Support work-order and production-planning activities.
• Support engineering changes and new product introductions.
• Identify supply risks early and coordinate corrective actions.
• Participate in supply, shortage, backlog reviews and process improvements.
