Job summary

The Pharmacy Manager at University of Miami Health System leads the operation of the Pharmacy Department, directing distributive and clinical services, and aligning with hospital policies to provide safe medication use across patient care areas.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Pharmacy Services, the role hires and develops staff, drives performance improvements, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• PharmD required; Florida license currently active or grandfathered per state rules.
• Minimum of three years of hospital pharmacy management experience.
• Strong organizational, computer, and management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with university staff.
• Knowledge of pharmacy system software, Microsoft applications, and automated dispensing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee provision of pharmacy services and recruit, develop staff.
• Set goals and programs aligned with the hospital's strategy and ensure resource efficiency.
• Improve medication distribution systems and processes for safety and efficiency.
• Lead pharmacy staff and foster a positive team environment; communicate with leadership.
• Ensure compliance with policies, laws, and accreditation standards; address complaints.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administration to optimize care.
• Enhance patient safety and report medication errors.
