Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Pharmacy Buyer to manage purchasing and inventory for drugs and supplies within the Correctional Managed Care program, ensuring compliance with GPO and 340B rules under the supervision of the Sr Pharmacy Buyer.

The role supports local clinics, EMS, and fire departments, maintains stockpile inventories, and uses automated systems to optimize par levels and prevent stockouts. Candidates should have TX Pharmacy Technician registration and strong procurement knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED or equivalent.
• Three years of related experience.
• Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Three years of related experience in health system pharmacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Compile information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of drugs and supplies.
• Maintain daily medication and supply orders from wholesaler.
• Place specialty drug orders through outside vendors.
• Coordinate medication procurement for local clinics, EMS, and fire departments.
• Maintain national stockpile inventory.
• Optimize medication inventory par levels in automated technology and static shelving to avoid stockouts and reduce waste.
• Record information for compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.
• Place controlled substances orders and maintain documentation.
• Submit new medications to IT for addition to the EHR to support CPOE.
• Operate automated inventory technology and information systems.
• Perform QA/improvement audits.
• Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
• Perform other related duties as required.
