Job summary

National Life Group invites applications for the Strategic Operations Analyst Intern role for Summer 2027 in Addison, TX. You will translate data into actionable insights, supporting New Business and Underwriting strategic initiatives to improve SLA adherence and overall performance.

This paid 10-week internship offers hands-on dashboards, cross-functional collaboration with operational leaders, mentorship, and opportunities to present findings to senior staff.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with operational leaders and cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational performance across New Business and Underwriting, including workload completed, workload outstanding, resource utilization, SLA performance, submit volumes, and timing of key work throughout the day.
• Identify trends and changes in performance on a week-over-week, month-over-month, and year-over-year basis, helping leaders understand what is improving, declining, or remaining consistent.
• Support BPO performance analysis by evaluating productivity, quality, SLA adherence, workload ownership, and the percentage of NB/UW work completed by BPO teams.
• Monitor vendor performance metrics such as turnaround time, accuracy, hit rates, utilization, and spend trends.
• Develop dashboards, summaries, and reporting that turn complex data into clear insights for leadership.
• Partner with leaders to investigate performance gaps and propose process improvements to strengthen SLA adherence.
