Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking an experienced Payer & Health Systems Oncology Medical Affairs Director to build strategic relationships with payers and health systems.

The role provides scientific information across the oncology portfolio and supports MA leadership in strategic planning. The position requires MD/PhD/PharmD with MA experience in payer or health system settings, strong clinical and policy knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD/PharmD required with field-based MA experience.
• 3 years MA with payers or 5 years oncology in health systems OR equivalent.
• Experience with organized healthcare systems or payer organizations.
• Strong understanding of clinical medicine, value-based payments and policy trends.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with key decision makers in payers and health systems to ensure access to medical information across the oncology portfolio.
• Develop strategic account plans with IAM teams and execute medical activities aligned with plans.
• Serve as the primary resource for market dynamics to inform value proposition development.
• Coordinate with Regional Medical Scientific Director for medical support in key accounts.
• Support strategic planning with MA leadership and contribute to post-meeting deliverables.
