Job summary

Merck is seeking a Payer & Health Systems Oncology Medical Affairs Director to build enduring relationships with healthcare decision makers across payer and provider organizations. This role informs strategic planning, provides clinical science support for oncology products, and mentors MA team members.

The position requires MD/PhD/PharmD with MA or oncology clinical experience, strong understanding of healthcare systems, and ability to operate in a regulatory environment while advancing

Qualifications

• MD, PhD, or PharmD degree required.
• 3 years field-based MA experience or 5 years oncology clinical experience
• Experience with payers or integrated delivery systems
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare delivery, pharmacoeconomics, and value-based care

Responsibilities

• Develops ongoing professional relationships with key decision makers in organized health systems to ensure access to medical and scientific information on the full oncology product portfolio and areas of therapeutic interest
• Develops strategic account plans in partnership with IAM account teams and executes medical activities in alignment with plan
• Serves as the primary resource for market dynamics within the territory to understand decision makers’ evolving information needs
• Communicates with Regional Medical Scientific Director regarding medical and scientific support needs in key health systems accounts
• Resources for PHSO MAD Team Lead and Executive Director Medical Affairs on strategic planning
• Attends and supports scientific and medical meetings and prepares post-meeting deliverables
