Job summary

The Polynesian Voyaging Society seeks a Controller to lead all finance functions including planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and accounting operations. The role directs AP/AR, payroll, GL, tax, audits and cash management, partnering with the CEO and board to drive growth and responsible stewardship.

Ideal candidates have at least three years in accounting/finance, strong Excel skills, and experience in policy writing and financial reporting for a non-profit organization.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to write and implement policy documentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, GL and financial reporting.
• Ensure timely tax filings and regulatory compliance; coordinate with external auditors.
• Provide financial insights to executives and board; develop annual budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain cash flow, banking relationships and investment oversight.
