Job summary

The Polynesian Voyaging Society seeks a Controller to lead all finance activities, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and payroll. You will ensure internal controls, prepare financial statements, and collaborate with the CEO and Board to advance the organization’s mission.

Responsibilities include managing accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and reporting on grants and restricted funds, while guiding strategic financial decisions for growth in a nonprofit context.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of accounting/finance experience.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong Excel skills in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Google Workspace and Adobe.
• Ability to write policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial planning and reporting to leadership.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with auditors and grant reporting.
• Prepare tax filings and financial statements.
