Job summary

Central City Opera House Association (CCOHA) seeks a Controller to manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate, timely reporting in a nonprofit setting. You will supervise payroll, AP/AR, general ledger, and restricted funds tracking, while supporting annual audits and donor reporting requirements.

The role emphasizes hands-on execution, process improvement, and strong internal controls. You will report to the President & CEO and collaborate with the Compliance Officer/Interim CFO

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with increasing responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software systems (QuickBooks or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records in GAAP compliant, nonprofit standards.
  • Track and manage restricted funds and ensure donor reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows).
  • Support annual audits with schedules and auditor requests; ensure timely responses.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and assist with variance analysis and forecasting.
