Job summary

SEIU 775 Benefits Group is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance. Reporting to the CFO, the role supervises staff and coordinates with outsourced partners to ensure accurate, timely financial results.

You will partner with the Director of Investment Strategy & Financial Operations, drive process improvements, oversee audits, and support senior leadership with strategic financial guidance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting, finance, or financial management experience.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience leading budget development and administration processes.
• Experience managing annual audits and serving as primary contact for auditors.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting function, month-end close and financial statements for accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain controls, policies, and procedures per GAAP and nonprofit requirements.
• Manage outsourced accounting providers and monitor service delivery.
• Lead biennial budgeting and monitor budget-to-actual performance.
• Oversee annual audits and coordinate with auditors.
• Drive process improvements in accounting systems and reporting.
• Provide financial guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams.
