Job summary

Place of Hope, a Florida nonprofit, seeks a Controller to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial records. You will oversee day-to-day accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, strengthen internal controls, and ensure nonprofit regulatory compliance.

You will manage audits, prepare financial statements, and collaborate with leadership to improve processes and governance. A CPA is preferred; strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting.
• Experience managing audits, financial reporting and internal controls.
• CPA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including billing, AR, AP, GL, and month-end close.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, forecasts and reports.
• Oversee audit readiness and coordination with external auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls and safeguard assets.
• Lead financial planning, variance analysis, and donor reporting.
• Maintain banking relationships and manage cash flow.
• Supervise Finance Department staff and department workflows.
• Coordinate with fundraising, regulatory filings, and board reporting.
