Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Strategic Narrative and Impact Lead to shape how our intelligence and investigations work is understood, communicated and acted on. You will translate sophisticated analysis and investigations into compelling, audience-specific stories for executives, internal teams and external partners.

Your work will help senior leaders and the public understand safety impacts, support engagement with government stakeholders, and align communications across the company and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategic communications, intelligence, journalism, public policy, government, research, trust & safety or related field.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills to translate complex material into clear narratives.
• Ability to tailor messaging for executives, technical teams, policy partners and government audiences.
• Experience collaborating across teams with different priorities including communications, legal, policy and technical specialists.

Responsibilities

• In this role, you will develop and own a clear narrative for safety impact across priority areas.
• Translate complex research, investigations and quantitative evidence into concise materials for diverse audiences.
• Shape leadership briefings, risk readouts and presentations so decisions are well informed.
• Develop evidence-backed safety impact retrospectives without adding reporting burden.
• Partner with Communications to identify strong stories and ensure consistent external messaging.
• Collaborate with Global Affairs to align briefings for government stakeholders and policy audiences.
• Strengthen the quality of threat reports, safety publications and engagement materials.
• Work with analysts and investigators to communicate evidence and limitations clearly.
• Support safety partnerships and external engagements to advance trusted relationships.
• Create practical methods to identify and reuse strong evidence across channels.
