Job summary

The City of Wauwatosa is seeking a Fleet Superintendent to oversee the City’s fleet program, including procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle management of vehicles and equipment. The role directs Fleet Division activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

The position oversees budgets, staff, facilities, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements, providing guidance to departments and partners while maintaining records and reporting metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of fleet management or closely related supervisory experience.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver's License; CDL desirable.
• ASE Certification in Automobile/Light Truck and/or Medium/Heavy Truck.
• Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, contracts, vendor management, and city policies.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains long‑term fleet replacement plans based on vehicle/equipment condition and funding.
• Prepares and manages annual fleet budgets; monitors expenditures and adjusts as needed.
• Develops vehicle/equipment specifications and coordinates procurement of fleet assets and services.
• Evaluates fleet utilization, maintenance costs, and replacement needs to guide decisions.
• Directs preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections to maximize availability and safety.
• Maintains fleet records and uses data to monitor performance and costs.
