Job summary

The City of Fairburn seeks a Finance Director to serve as the CFO, reporting to the City Administrator, and to provide strategic financial leadership for budgeting, auditing, and policy development.

The ideal candidate will drive GAAP-compliant financial management, partner with the City Council, and oversee ERP deployment (BS&A) to strengthen fiscal transparency and long-range planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required; graduate degree preferred.
• CPA and State Govt Finance Officer certification preferred or attainable within 2 years.
• 8 years government accounting/municipal finance with 3–5 years supervisory/director experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership over budgeting, long-range planning, debt management, and procurement.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and financial reporting to city leadership.
• Lead ERP implementation (BS&A modules) and finance department alignment.
