Job summary

The City of Georgetown seeks a Chief Financial Officer to plan, direct, and supervise the financial activities for the City, including cash management, accounts payable/receivable, utility billing, payroll, inventory control, IT, capital assets, and purchasing. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the City Administrator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with at least five years in a managerial, local government setting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.
• Experience in public budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting.

Position Overview:

The position serves as the City's Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Plans, directs, controls, administers, and supervises the financial activities and programs for the City including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, payroll, inventory control, information technology, capital assets, and purchasing. Exercises independent judgement in applying established generally accepted accounting practices and municipal accounting principles and practices. Reports to the City Administrator.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in a job-related field with managerial experience in local governmental accounting, auditing, finance, and budgeting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn other software such as BS&A and accounting programs.
• Excellent analytical skills in public finance and knowledge of GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.
• Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Financial Officer, and/or GFOA preferred.
