Job summary

Mariana Minerals seeks a senior mining leader to oversee the planning, design, and execution of copper ore extraction at the Moab, UT site. You will drive resource modeling, reserves, and mine planning while ensuring safety, budget adherence, and KPI alignment.

You will manage multidisciplinary technical teams, coordinate with TPMs on schedules, and steer projects from short-term to long-term horizons, including autonomous haulage initiatives and drone-based verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
• 12–15 years of progressive experience in open-pit mining operations, mine planning, technical services, or mine engineering.
• Extensive leadership experience overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong experience in resource modeling, reserve estimation, mine planning, grade control, and production reconciliation.
• Knowledge of reporting standards and mineral reserve/resource estimation practices.
• Experience leading pit optimization studies, feasibility studies, and life-of-mine planning.
• Understanding of geotechnical, hydrogeological, and operational factors affecting open-pit mine design.
• Experience managing drilling and blasting programs and supporting operational execution.
• Strong financial acumen with budgeting, cost forecasts, and economic evaluations.
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations and environmental compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead resource modeling, reserve estimation, and mine reconciliation processes.
• Develop and manage budgets, short-term forecasts, five-year plans, and life-of-mine schedules.
• Direct mine planning, pit optimization, and technical studies.
• Oversee grade control, survey, geotechnical, drilling, and blasting activities.
• Monitor performance against production, grade, cost, and safety targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Ensure MSHA and environmental compliance.
• Partner with operations and maintenance to align execution with plans.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing technical services team.
