Job summary

PMX Industries in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a proactive Purchasing Manager to lead and optimize metals procurement. You will develop strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely availability of high-quality materials while controlling costs.

As a hands-on leader and individual contributor, you will mentor the procurement team, monitor market trends, negotiate contracts, and collaborate across departments to support operations and company goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination with 5+ years in specialty metals procurement.
• Experience in specialty alloys, metals procurement or related industry; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute short- and long-term metals procurement strategies.
• Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
• Ensure timely availability of materials through purchasing and logistics.
• Monitor metal markets, assess risks, and mitigate pricing fluctuations.
• Lead and train purchasing team; foster continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
• Prepare regular purchasing reports and forecasts.
• Collaborate with internal departments to meet objectives.
