Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Media Communications Officer to amplify our client’s initiatives in Upington, Northern Cape. You will develop engaging content across websites, social media, newsletters, and publications, while managing media relations and supporting public awareness campaigns.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in communications or a related field, 1–3 years' experience, excellent writing skills, and the ability to travel regionally to support events and interviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in media relations, communications, or a relevant role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to craft clear messages.
• Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.
• Willingness to travel within Upington region.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication plans to support organizational objectives.
• Create engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, and publications.
• Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews for spokespersons.
• Write and distribute press releases and media advisories.
• Monitor media coverage and report on trends and impacts.
• Assist in organizing events, workshops, and community outreach activities.
• Maintain updated media and stakeholder contact lists.
• Ensure consistent brand messaging across channels.
