Crusoe Energy Systems LLC is seeking a Senior Category Manager, Mechanical to own the mechanical spend end-to-end, including enclosures, structural fabrication, doors, sheet metal, and related components. You will lead market intelligence, supplier qualification, and strategic negotiations to secure robust contracts and timelines.

The role focuses on balancing strategic custom fabrications with leverage standard items, employing Kraljic-style segmentation, risk management, and make/buy analysis

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of dedicated strategic sourcing or category management experience focused on fabricated metal, enclosures, or mechanical components.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Working familiarity with metal fabrication methods, tolerancing, and shop-floor assessment techniques to audit supplier capabilities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Market & Spend Intelligence: Track and analyze supply base capabilities, pricing benchmarks, actual fabrication lead times, and capacity constraints across all mechanical categories.
• AVL Qualification & Shop-Floor Vetting: Own the mechanical AVL, verifying actual shop-floor fabrication capabilities to ensure claims match reality.
• Category Strategy & Segmentation: Apply frameworks like the Kraljic Matrix to differentiate Strategic custom items from Leverage standard items and build a 12–24 month roadmap.
• Commercial Negotiations & Contracting: Structure and negotiate MSAs, SLAs, and terms while redlining clauses.
• Proactive Capacity & Risk Management: Monitor supplier capacity risks during high-volume cycles and maintain a risk register with mitigation strategies.
• Make/Buy Analysis: Evaluate make/buy opportunities where internal fabrication capacity is viable.
