Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Material Planner to plan and manage material requirements for ingredients, packaging, raw materials, and other production-related supplies to support manufacturing and customer demand. Maintain appropriate inventory levels by balancing material availability, lead times, production schedules, forecasts, and storage considerations.

Analyze and provide data from various sources to facilitate business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in material planning or related supply chain function.
• Experience with MRP, inventory or production planning systems.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and material planning processes.
• Strong analytical and forecasting abilities to balance supply and demand.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain material requirement plans based on production schedules, forecasts, inventory levels and lead times.
• Review inventory and open purchase orders to identify replenishment needs.
• Determine order quantities and delivery dates using lead times and safety stock parameters.
• Coordinate with suppliers to support production schedules and prevent shortages.
• Monitor material availability and communicate potential issues to stakeholders.
• Align material availability with production schedules with Production and Warehouse teams.
• Adjust plans in response to forecast or demand changes and supplier performance.
• Support material-related problem diagnosis and corrective actions with root cause analysis.
• Use ERP systems for planning, inventory management, and reporting.
• Maintain accurate planning data in ERP and support governance processes.
