Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking an Estimator to analyze complex blueprints and develop material lists and cost estimates for bids and sales. You will use estimating software to determine quantities for walls, headers, beams, and floors, while coordinating with Project Managers on issues.

The role requires an associate degree in construction technology and 2–3 years in the building industry, with strong math and communication skills to support the sales team and customers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in construction technology from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience within the building construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related documents.
• Ability to prepare and present cost estimates and bid data.

Responsibilities

• Receives information from sales or customers on required materials for pricing.
• Reviews complex blueprints and selections to clarify details with Project Manager or customer.
• Uses estimating software to calculate material quantities and wall components.
• Supports sales by supplying material availability, substitutions, and new materials.
• Maintains current pricing data and maximizes use of stock material.
• Calculates cost factors and prepares bids and cost analyses for management.
