Job summary

Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials, is seeking a material estimator to develop materials lists and cost estimates for bids and projects. You will review blueprints, calculate required materials, and support the sales team with pricing data and vendor information.

This role requires an associate degree in construction technology and 2–3 years of industry experience. Strong math, Excel skills, and willingness to learn estimating software are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have an associate degree in construction technology or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in the building construction industry preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and relate information for estimates.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to train on estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Receives project information from sales or customer for pricing.
• Reviews blueprints and selections sheets to understand details and resolve issues with Project Manager or customer.
• Uses estimating software to determine linear and square footage for wall structures and components.
• Assists sales with information on materials, availability, substitutions, and new materials.
• Maintains current pricing data and optimizes stock material use.
• Calculates cost factors and prepares bids and cost analyses for management.
