Job summary

Afton Scientific is seeking an organized Buyer Planner to join our Supply Chain team in Charlottesville, VA. This role focuses on ensuring materials for manufacturing and projects are available on time while maintaining optimal inventory and strong supplier relationships.

The position offers growth in planning, problem-solving, and cross-department coordination to support efficient manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Inventory management experience.
• MS Office proficiency (Outlook/Word/Excel).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Obtain supplier quotes and procure materials to support manufacturing and project requirements.
• Serve as the primary contact for assigned suppliers and maintain relationships.
• Monitor open purchase orders and coordinate delivery dates with suppliers.
• Closely manage critical material orders to prevent disruptions to manufacturing.
• Monitor raw material, in-transit, and consignment inventory levels.
• Maintain MRP planning data and coordinate material deliveries.
• Perform production and project material planning, including allocations and pick lists.
• Author and review supply chain and quality docs, SOPs, Supplier Non- Conformances, and quarterly DEA reporting.
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories for accuracy.
• Participate in continuous improvement to boost efficiency and cost effectiveness.
