Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 5 years work experience in Purchasing
• Experience using MRP and understanding its principles
• Computer experience using MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Basic math including percentages, currency, UOM conversions
• Effective communication both orally and in writing
• Attention to detail essential

Responsibilities

• Evaluate suppliers based on quality, price and service.
• Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices and develop commodity strategies.
• Interview suppliers and visit plants/centers to examine products, services and prices.
• Extract data from MRP or develop reports to extract data.
• Evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure compliance and changes as needed.
• Maintain records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, inventory and performance.
• Manage assigned projects and maintain project logs.
• Attend and conduct meetings as needed.
• Stay current on assigned commodities to address management requirements.
• Manage standard costs of assigned commodities annually
• Handle obsolescence and transition plans to replacements
• Track cost savings and report to supervisor
