Job summary

Schaefer Plastics North America, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee daily accounting operations in our Charlotte, NC manufacturing environment. You will lead the close process, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and mentor a high-performing accounting team.

The role partners with Finance leadership to drive improvements in cost accounting, inventory controls, and internal processes while managing audits and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing focus.
• Public accounting experience (Big Four or regional) preferred.
• Experience managing external financial statement audits.
• Manufacturing industry accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting (standard costing).
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with ERP systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review financial statements under US GAAP.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses.
• Coordinate annual external audits and provide schedules and documentation.
• Assist with year-end financial reporting and compliance.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting team.
• Partner with Operations to drive cost accounting improvements.
• Support ERP enhancements and cross-functional initiatives.
