Job summary

The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law seeks a Major Gift Officer to join its Development team in Washington DC or New York City.

The MGO will manage a portfolio of major donors and foundations, securing gifts of $25,000 and above through targeted cultivation and solicitation. Ideal candidates have five to seven years in frontline fundraising and a track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals and foundations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 5–7+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including frontline major gifts.
• Proven success securing five- and six-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals and foundations.
• Willingness to travel nationally up to 40% and to work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build, manage, and advance a major gift portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Personally solicit major gifts and move donors through the fundraising cycle.
• Plan and coordinate donor cultivation events and personalized engagement.
• Collaborate with leadership and volunteers to develop donor strategies and cases for support.
• Maintain accurate donor records and monitor portfolio activity to ensure movement toward solicitation.
