Job summary

The Salvation Army Sarasota County Area Command in Sarasota, FL seeks a Director of Major Gifts to plan, develop, and manage the Major Gifts program within the Development Department. The Director works with the Director of Development and the team to secure major funding from individuals in Sarasota County and to position the command for capital and endowment campaigns.

Education: Bachelor's degree required; Experience: at least five years fundraising, preferably with a nonprofit with a proven

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 5 years fundraising experience, preferably with a nonprofit with a track record of large gifts.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects, building a donor portfolio.
• Accompanies leadership in visits with prospects and maintains timely contact reports.
• Maintains relationships with regional staff to enhance fundraising efficiency.
• Aids in supervision of capital campaigns and campaign pledge completion.
• Attends meetings and promotes Salvation Army programs through public speaking.
