Job summary

Stella-Jones is seeking a Transportation Manager to ensure availability for all logistics needs, lead emergency storm response, manage freight claims, and optimize carrier performance across the North American network.

The role collaborates with yard crews and drivers, develops 3rd party rates, ensures DOT and safety compliance, and supports cost-saving initiatives and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensures transportation availability for all logistical needs.
• Transportation emergency storm response lead.
• Manages all freight claims as it relates to truck transportation.
• Reviews 3rd party performance, carrier sourcing, and performance optimization.
• Participates in business development strategies, capital projects and special projects.
• Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations and contract compliance.
• Contributes to company transportaions decisions; exploits cost-saving opportunities for logistics.
• Negotiates and publishes transporation rates of 3rd party truck.
• Develop, implement and monitor 3rd party carrier rates, DOT and safety, service level compliance.
• Develops a close working relationship with all carriers and has a thorough knowledge of their operations including strengths and weaknesses.
• Initiates contact with the Yard Coordinators & drivers on a regular basis to optimize customer service levels and safety
• Service level tracking
• Participates and contributes to company safety program.
