Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Learning Consultant to partner with leaders across APL, strengthening organizational capability and leadership effectiveness. You will apply knowledge in organizational development, adult learning, consulting, and change to build and deliver solutions that advance APL's mission.

As a key member of the enterprise Talent Development team, you will collaborate with instructional designers, use data to measure impact, and help shape the future

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Adult Learning, Leadership Development, Organization Development, Psychology, Human Systems, Instructional Systems Design (or related degree), business, or equivalent years of professional experience.
• Minimum of five years' experience in classroom facilitation for adult learners, delivered in-person or virtually.
• Strong communication, consulting, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
• Curious, adaptable, creative, and energized by helping organizations grow through change.
• Experience facilitating learning experiences tailored to the audience and incorporating AI/tools to extend learning beyond the classroom.
• Apply adult learning theory, systems thinking, and human-centered design principles.
• Ability to work independently or across teams on multiple projects with shifting priorities.
• Customer service skills and the ability to overcome obstacles to reach a resolution.
• Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and bias toward action while navigating ambiguity.
• Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL’s facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and continuously improve leadership, learning, and organizational development experiences to strengthen performance.
• Partner with peers, leaders, HR partners, and stakeholders to understand challenges and recommend learning or OD solutions.
• Use data, assessments, and evaluations to identify root causes, measure impact, and improve solutions.
• Collaborate with instructional designers and SMEs to create engaging learning experiences using evidence-based practices and emerging technologies.
• Explore innovations in leadership, learning science, AI, and workforce trends to enhance capability.
• Build trusted relationships with leaders, staff, vendors, and partners to deliver talent and learning outcomes.
• Lead or contribute to enterprise talent initiatives strengthening leadership, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
• Balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day facilitation while managing multiple priorities.
