Job summary

Western Carolina University seeks an Associate Dean of Library Services for Hunter Library in Cullowhee, NC. This 12-month, non-tenure-track, exempt role reports to the Dean and leads strategic planning, marketing, communications, and library assessment.

The Associate Dean will supervise the Access Services Manager, support policy development and HR tasks, coordinate the internship program, and represent the library in campus and community activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution and 3+ years in academic libraries.
• Minimum of five years in public relations, communications, and/or library assessment.
• Demonstrated familiarity with academic library operations.
• Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead library marketing, external communications, outreach and public relations.
• Coordinate internal communications and newsletters for library employees and tenants.
• Lead library assessment and annual reporting activities.
• Supervise the Access Services Manager and assist with HR and policy development.
• Coordinate the library internship program.
