California Academic & Research Libraries (CARL) invites applications for the Associate Dean position at the University Library. Under the Dean's direction, the Associate Dean supports strategic planning, policy development, and daily library operations.

The role leads planning across User Services, Collections, Access and Processing Services, and the Gerth Archives and Special Collections, supervises library faculty, and represents the Library Dean at campus and external meetings.

Administration/Management

Under the administrative direction of the Dean, University Library, the Associate Dean supports the Dean's vision for the library's mission and strategic planning goals. The incumbent plays a significant role in all aspects of library-wide planning, personnel management, plans for new services, policy and procedures development, assessment, marketing, and oversight of daily library operations. The Associate Dean plays an important role in continuing the library's strategic services and programming by assessing outcomes in service provision, collections, instruction, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with the campus and library's strategic plans. The incumbent coordinates assessment activities across departments. The incumbent is primarily responsible for the following library departments: User Services, Collections, Access, and Processing Services (CAPS), and the Gerth Archives and Special Collections, in close consultation with their director. The Associate Dean also assists the Dean in providing leadership and oversight to the library faculty. The incumbent represents the Library Dean at meetings and events both on and off campus, prepares reports as needed, assumes responsibility for the library in the Dean's absence, and leads other initiatives as required.

Position Salary Range: $9,549 – $14,324 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $11,900 – $12,600 per month.
