Plan International USA seeks a Senior Director of Legal, Governance & Compliance to lead the in-house legal function, governance, and compliance. Reporting to the CEO, you will guide risk management, regulatory compliance, and board governance while coordinating with global partners and senior leadership.

You will oversee government awards, data privacy, and contract management, ensuring alignment with mission and strategic fundraising goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of legal experience, with 3+ years in-house or in nonprofit settings.
• Deep knowledge of 501(c)(3) regulations and charitable solicitations.
• Experience with U.S. government foreign aid awards, grants, and procurement rules.
• Proven ability to advise executives and support board governance processes.
• Experience navigating federated, multi-entity or complex organizational structures.

Responsabilités

• Serve as in-house counsel and governance advisor to CEO and executive team.
• Oversee compliance for U.S. government awards, subgrants, and federal requirements.
• Draft, negotiate, and approve contracts over $30,000.
• Support board governance: resolutions, committees, and minute-taking.
• Collaborate with Global HQ legal and partnership teams on federated agreements.
• Supervise the Compliance Manager and foster a mission-aligned team culture.
