CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Director of Legal (Government) to lead government-facing business and regulatory strategy. This role is foundational, overseeing government contracting, regulatory compliance, and engagement with U.S. and international regimes.

The position reports to executive leadership, guiding risk-aware decisions and building scalable government-legal systems and processes.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active US law license.
• 11+ years in aerospace or defense focusing on government contracting.
• Deep knowledge of FAR/DFARS and US procurement.
• Experience with ITAR/EAR export controls.
• Track record negotiating complex defense contracts.
• Experience advising C-suite and Boards.
• Ability to balance speed and risk in a fast-paced environment.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead government contracting and regulatory compliance (FAR/DFARS) for US government work.
• Negotiate and structure government deals with business development and program teams.
• Advise on contract clauses, performance, change orders, claims, and terminations.
• Oversee export compliance programs (ITAR, EAR).
• Develop policies and training on government compliance.
• Manage outside counsel and mentor the legal/compliance team.
