Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director of Legal (Government) to lead government contracting, regulatory strategy, and compliance for U.S. and international regimes. This role partners with executive leadership and cross‑functional teams to build scalable processes and risk controls.

The role requires deep subject matter expertise in FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and export controls, with the ability to mentor a growing legal and compliance function in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• JD required with active U.S. license to practice law.
• 11+ years of progressive legal experience in aerospace/defense with government contracting focus.
• Deep expertise in FAR/DFARS and U.S. government procurement processes.
• Experience with export controls (ITAR/EAR) and regulatory compliance programs.
• Proven success leading contract negotiations on complex defense and government programs.
• Experience advising C-suite leaders and Boards of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. government contracts, FAR/DFARS interpretation, negotiation, administration, and dispute resolution.
• Partner with BD and programs to structure, negotiate, and win government deals.
• Advise on contract clauses, performance, changes, claims, and terminations.
• Oversee export compliance programs and regulatory obligations.
• Develop policies and procedures for government compliance and risk management.
• Mentor and build a growing legal/compliance team.
