Job summary

University of Washington School of Medicine seeks a dynamic Vice Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official to lead UW GME programs and related accreditation activities.

The role reports to the Executive Vice Dean for Medical Education and Faculty Affairs and collaborates with department chairs, hospital leaders, and program directors. The Vice Dean drives innovation, workforce development, and strategic partnerships across WWAMI and UW Medicine.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MD-PhD or foreign equivalent degree, with graduate training and board certification.
• Minimum ten years of experience in an integrated clinical, research, and learning health system.
• Must be eligible for Washington State medical license and able to satisfy USMLE steps requirements for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Graduate Medical Education and DIO responsibilities within UW SoM.
• Chair the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and guide educational governance.
• Collaborate with deans, chairs, and health system leaders to advance education and accreditation.
• Lead efforts in educational innovation, assessment, and workforce development across WWAMI.

Education

MD/DO/MD-PhD or foreign equivalent degree

Board certification in a medical or surgical specialty

Washington State medical license eligibility
