Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks an Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education (DIO) to lead strategic direction, accreditation oversight, and quality improvement for all UCSF GME programs. This senior role partners with department chairs, program directors, and health-system leaders to advance clinical education and trainee wellbeing.

The ADGME will champion educational innovation, competency-based assessment, and faculty development while ensuring compliance with ACGME

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree and senior faculty rank (associate/full).
• Experience as program director or DIO in GME leadership.
• Proven leadership of faculty and staff in academic medical education.
• Commitment to improving educational quality and learner well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for UCSF GME programs and initiatives.
• Oversee accreditation, GMEC governance, and reporting.
• Lead faculty development in teaching, assessment, and scholarly work.
• Champion trainee well-being, patient safety, and learning environments.
• Coordinate across sites with department chairs, program directors, and health system leadership.
