Job summary

National Life Group, based in Addison, TX, is seeking an Insurance Investment Portfolio Manager to oversee the insurer’s portfolio, balancing risk-adjusted returns with liability profiles and regulatory constraints.

You will manage asset allocations across fixed income and alternatives, collaborate with actuarial teams for ALM, and present performance metrics to the investment committee. Strong finance background and CFA/ALM experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
• MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
• CFA charterholder strongly preferred.
• 5–12+ years of experience in institutional asset management or insurance investments.
• Strong understanding of insurance balance sheets and statutory accounting.
• Experience with ALM frameworks and capital modeling.

Responsibilities

• Manage fixed income, equity, and alternative investments in line with risk appetite.
• Optimize portfolio duration and credit quality to align with insurance liabilities.
• Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks and internal targets.
• Collaborate with actuarial teams to ensure asset–liability matching (ALM).
• Support capital efficiency initiatives and surplus optimization.
• Monitor market, credit, liquidity, and concentration risks; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Present asset class reviews and risk metrics to investment committee.
