Job summary

Relay Therapeutics is seeking an senior leader to drive analytical method development and validation strategy for small molecule programs. You will own CDMO partnerships, guide method development and transfer, and introduce modern analytical technologies to enable regulatory readiness.

You will also oversee QC for labs and DS manufacturing, review external lab reports, and lead data trends while collaborating with CMC, QA, and Regulatory to shape development strategy.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related with 8+ years in small molecule analytical development.
• Experience leading analytical method development, validation, troubleshooting, and QA programs including CMOs/CROs.
• Hands-on analytical knowledge for drug substance and solid-state characterization.
• Strong instrumentation expertise across HPLC, GC, KF, XRPD, ICP-MS, UV and related techniques.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional influence; regulatory submissions experience a plus.
• IND/CTA filing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy for analytical method development and phase-appropriate transfer activities.
• Own analytical strategy for drug substance programs at CDMOs and oversee development and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate and adopt modern analytical technologies for method development workflows.
• Provide senior-level review of transfer protocols, data sets, and reports for regulatory readiness.
• Oversee QC testing across labs and DS manufacturing sites; manage vendor performance.
• Review method qualification at external labs as the final scientific authority.
• Direct review of raw data to drive data trends and issue resolution.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects with priorities and timelines.
• Partner with CMC, QA, and Regulatory Affairs to shape strategy and represent in forums.
