Job summary

Leoforce, a respected law firm in the Maryland/DC market, seeks an experienced Controller or CFO to lead accounting and financial operations. This newly created role blends hands‑on accounting with strategic partnership to firm leadership.

The role oversees accounting, financial reporting, cash management, trust accounting and FP&A, building dashboards, KPIs and processes to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Prior law firm or professional services experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cash management, internal controls and accounting operations.
• Experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non‑financial stakeholders and firm leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Prepare weekly cash position reports.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs for profitability, cash flow and overall firm performance.
• Monitor liquidity and identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Accounting Department.
• Oversee billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Improve accounting processes, workflows and internal controls.
• Promote a collaborative, service‑oriented accounting environment.
• Oversee trust/IOLTA accounting and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Coordinate with outside accountants, auditors, and banking partners.
• Maintain strong financial controls and accounting policies.
• Optimize accounting, billing and financial systems.
• Identify opportunities for automation and improved reporting.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to improve accounting operations and financial analysis.
• Develop forecasts, budgets and reporting tools.
• Analyze profitability, staffing and strategic investments.
• Partner with Partners and COO/Office Administrator on initiatives.
• Enhance budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.
