Job summary

TransAlta is seeking a Manager, Land Acquisitions to develop and execute land strategies across Canada and the United States. You will lead acquisition activities for energy infrastructure projects, manage title and due diligence, and negotiate complex land agreements while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Strong leadership and negotiation skills are essential, with a background in land management or real estate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Real Estate, Business, Natural Resources, Energy Management, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in land acquisition, real estate, project development, or related commercial functions within energy or infrastructure.
• Experience securing land rights for utility-scale energy, transmission, pipeline, or related projects.
• U.S.-based candidates preferred, with Denver location a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute land strategies supporting greenfield and brownfield development, acquisitions, divestitures and operations.
• Identify, evaluate and secure sites for thermal, wind, solar, energy storage, transmission, pipeline and related energy infrastructure.
• Lead negotiations for complex land agreements and establish commercial terms with Legal collaboration.
• Oversee title, due diligence and land risk management across projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with landowners, government representatives, developers and legal counsel.
