Job summary

Garmin International is seeking a Senior Project Manager IT at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will manage large IT projects, develop and maintain project plans, and report status to stakeholders.

You will drive PM process improvements, coordinate cross-functional teams, and mentor junior PMs. Strong communication, leadership, and ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, Business or related field with 5+ years relevant experience.
• Excellent academics (GPA ≥ 3.0).
• Mastery of project management principles and ability to adapt to changing business climates and needs.
• Proven track record delivering technology solutions.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, team oriented, self-starter with ability to prioritize and lead projects in a fast paced environment.
• Experience in managing projects on Engineering software development, PLM, or Enterprise Business Applications from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains complex project plans involving multiple participants and stakeholders.
• Drives accountability from project team members and serves as SME in PM process improvements.
• Provides project status and summary to senior management and wide audiences.
• Identifies interdependencies in programs and serves as the go-to person for project management.
• Leads project management process improvement efforts.
• Participates in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs.
• Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies.
• Mentors less experienced Project Managers (PM 1 & 2).
• Understands business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions.
• Develops and maintains all project documentation.
• Motivates and coordinates resources assigned to projects without direct authority; resolves conflicts.
• Contributes to advanced technical research on new technologies and feasibility.
