Job summary

Vertiv, a global leader in power, cooling, and IT infrastructure, seeks an IP Legal Counsel in Westerville, Ohio. The role focuses on managing the IP portfolio across cutting-edge technologies and partnering with senior management to align IP strategy with business goals.

You will engage in patent prosecution strategy, licensing negotiations, and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, while leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• A law degree from a leading law school and an undergraduate/graduate science or engineering degree (preferably mechanical or electrical).
• Admitted to practice in at least one state and before the USPTO (or eligible).
• Minimum of two years' experience as an IP lawyer in-house or in an IP-focused firm; patent drafting, prosecution, enforcement, and IP agreements.

Responsibilities

• Manage Vertiv's IP portfolio and operations; oversee external counsel and vendors.
• Develop long-term IP strategies aligned with business objectives; risk assessment and mitigation.
• Support due diligence for M&A, licensing negotiations, and cross-border enforcement while collaborating with senior management.
