Job summary

GMES invites applications for Inventory Planner in Houston, TX. This role manages inventory levels, creates advance buys, and coordinates with purchasing and leadership on new developments, aiming to meet customer expectations while lean on slow-moving stock.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Supply Chain or related field, 3+ years in planning or buying, experience with ERP forecasting, and strong Excel skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
• 3 years of work experience in a Buyer or Planning role (or in a similar capacity).
• Experience using ERP systems with forecasting/demand planning capabilities.
• Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Demonstrated ability to drive improvement with an assigned set of suppliers.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor purchasing requirements and manage inventory levels
• Analyze inventory needs and urgency to determine the best way to fulfill requirements
• Assist in setting replenishment parameters and influencing order levels for stockable inventory
• Create advance buys and scheduled deliveries based on demand history and growth expectations
• Communicate with purchasing team and leadership on any new developments in sales and vendors
• Create and send purchase orders to vendors
• Communicate and resolve issues in shipping, pricing or quantity
• Compile and send POS and consignment reports
• Liason between internal and external customers to resolve issues
• Evaluate, clarify, and act on customer forecast information
