Job summary

Forgent Power in Minnesota is seeking a Manager, Inventory Cost Accountant to lead costing for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods and to partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and FP&A to maintain standard costs.

The role focuses on analyzing variances, supporting month-end close, and ensuring GAAP and SOX controls, with opportunities to drive process improvements and cost reductions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with focus on cost/inventory accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• CPA, CMA, or CPIM certification preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor) and cost module configuration is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Experience supporting SOX compliance and internal/external audits.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing manufacturing variances and standard costing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and intercompany inventory.
• Prepare and analyze reports focused on inventory performance, valuation, and COGS.
• Lead month-end close with reconciliations, journal entries, and roll-forwards.
• Maintain standard costs for all inventory stages and update cost rollups.
• Perform monthly inventory valuation, reconciliation, and reporting across sub-ledgers.
• Analyze PPV, manufacturing variances, labor/overhead absorption, and scrap/yield.
