Job summary

HRB is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a nonprofit organization. This part-time, 20-hours-per-week role is remote with occasional in-office presence.

The successful candidate will provide executive financial leadership during a transition, assess the organization's position, and guide both leadership and the Board. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on responsibility, oversees budgeting, forecasting, and reporting under GAAP nonprofit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership.
• Significant nonprofit accounting and finance experience.
• Experience with nonprofit statements, budgets, grants, and audits.
• Strong Sage Intacct hands-on experience.
• Advanced GAAP/nonprofit accounting knowledge.
• Forecasting, cash-flow, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Experience presenting to executives and boards.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide interim financial leadership and oversight for the organization.
• Assess current financial operations, reporting, controls, processes, and staffing.
• Partner with CEO and senior leadership on financial strategy.
• Prepare and present financial information, forecasts, and recommendations to leadership and board.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and planning.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Oversee restricted funds, grants, and nonprofit-specific accounting.
• Support the annual audit and internal controls.
• Mentor finance staff and provide leadership during the interim period.
